Lifehack: How to make the sole of your shoes anti-slip

Life hack How to make the sole of your shoes anti-slip

The reason pedestrians fall on the street in icy conditions is a sliding sole. Walking in such shoes often ends in serious injuries, and at least painful bruises. Let's look at some tips for choosing shoes and what to do to ensure that their soles are stable on ice.

Tip 1. Evaluate the sole

The sole of winter shoes should not be smooth. The more bulges, depressions and relief patterns it has, the more stable it is on ice. The material used to make the sole also matters. Rubber begins to slide in cold weather from -12°C, thermoplastic elastomer (TEP) from -50°C, hard synthetic materials slide constantly.

Tip 2: Carry a cloth adhesive bandage with you

In dry, frosty weather, you can glue a fabric adhesive plaster crosswise onto a previously cleaned sole. If your shoes slip a lot, then with its help you can quickly fix it and get to your final destination without falling. In humid weather the patch will fall off.

Tip 3: Apply glue

You can apply PVA or superglue in zigzags to the sole and let it dry. Frozen thorns will last about a month. You can sprinkle it with sand while the glue is still wet, then the effect will be even better. Important! It is better not to walk on varnished floors in such shoes, as dry glue will scratch it.

Tip 4. Rub the sole with sandpaper

If you lightly rub the sole with fine-grained sandpaper until it becomes matte, it will be more resistant to ice. The procedure is repeated periodically as the outsole begins to slip again.

Tip 5. Buy ice shoes

Studded overhead ice access shoes with rubber straps provide very high stability. Boots with them do not slip at all. Choose ice access bars that are quick to install and remove. It is uncomfortable to walk in them on normal surfaces, so after passing through a slippery area you can unhook them.
Buy ice racks for your shoes to prevent them from slipping.
