Materials
And so, to make your shoes waterproof you will need only two things, which are 99% available in every home:
- This is a hair dryer
- And a regular paraffin candle.
Applying a water-repellent coating to shoes
Before applying the coating, shoes must be clean and completely dry. This determines how well the coating layer will lay down.
Now we take a candle in our hand and generously rub it on the entire surface of the shoe.
Rub well on all sides. If there are small gaps, then we especially go through them several times, preferably right along these gaps. We also carefully go through seams and other connections.
The paraffin coating rubbed with a candle should be very visible.
Next, take a hairdryer and turn it on to maximum temperature. We set the air speed to minimum. And with this heat we begin to warm up the entire surface where the paraffin was applied.
We warm up from all sides.
During this heat treatment, the paraffin melts and is absorbed into the surface, seams and gaps, thereby sealing the entire surface.
During the heating process, the effect and coating can be enhanced by additionally rubbing the candle into the heated surface.
Continue drying until the paraffin is completely absorbed into the shoes.
