How to hide a bolt head flush in wood
During assembly furniture and various wood products, sometimes it is necessary to tighten parts with bolts. In this case, you need to cut out a hexagonal pocket to prepare them. Usually this is done with a chisel in 10-15 minutes, but by making this tool, the potai can be cooked in a minute.
What you will need:
- an extended nut corresponding to the size of the bolt head for installation;
- grinder with cutting disc;
- vice;
- triangular file.
Tool making process
In the elongated nut, you need to make a cut at the end with a depth of 5-10 mm, leaving any 2 faces located opposite.
The resulting gap is trimmed with a file.
From the inside, a trigger is drawn out on the edges and a tip is formed.
On the wooden surface on which you want to make a countersunk hole, a blind hole is drilled with a drill corresponding to the diameter of the threaded part of the bolt.
Then a ground nut with a tightened bolt is inserted into it for centering. Then, by hitting its cap, the teeth are driven into the tree 2-3 mm. The tool is turned and driven in again.
After assigning the contour, the bolt is unscrewed. Next you only need to drive in the nut.
As the wood peels off, it is picked out with a screwdriver.
After 1-2 minutes, slide it under the head of the bolt or nut and it’s ready.
