The simplest lathe for metalworking with your own hands

drive belt;
M8 nuts – 6 pcs.;

corner 15x15 mm.

The process of making a simple lathe for a workshop

To make a machine chuck, you will need a piece of pipe with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of about 20 cm.

It needs to be cleaned from the top.

Along the edges of the pipe you need to mark 3 holes with equal separation from each other. The marks are drilled.

Then a pair of bearings are placed on the pipe.

After this, nuts are welded onto the holes along the edges. At the time of welding, they need to be held with a pin so that they have the correct direction.

Next, we take a profile pipe and weld two pieces of angle to it across it. We are already preparing the upper bearing races for them. Thus, we obtain reliable fastening of the cartridge.

A corner is welded to the same profile pipe, to which the electric motor is screwed. It is better to immediately put on the drive belt before cooking to get the desired tension.

Now we screw the bolts into the cartridge. By pressing them, you can fix workpieces of almost any length. The rotation of the machine due to the bearings is carried out without runout.
