How long does 1 liter of waste burn in a conventional furnace?

Almost any stove can be quickly converted into a firebox by working it out in a tray. This is much easier than assembling a fuel drip system. Against this background, the question arises: how long will the waste burn when burned in a bath, and how much ash remains from it?

We record the burning time in practice and measure the remaining ash

For the experiment, pour 1 liter of waste into the tray.

For the purity of the tests, we ignite with gasoline, since it does not produce additional ash.

This is faster than with drip fuel supply, but a large amount of heat is immediately released. Considering the low cost of mining, using such a furnace is still profitable. There is no more than a teaspoon of ash left in the burner tray when finished, so cleaning it takes seconds.

Somehow I can’t believe that the waste burns without soot.

Of course there is soot. I clean the pipe once a year. Firebox (tray) daily before refueling. There are 5 - 8 liters of work per working day. Different oils leave different types of debris. Only the furnace is specially welded for processing.

Probably the burning time depends on the combustion surface area, that is, the area of the tray. If you make it twice as small, then it will burn twice as much and the same amount less heat.

The size of the firebox, also known as the filling capacity, is 30 cm square. I didn’t measure it exactly, and the oil burns differently, but a liter burns for about an hour.
