How to easily repair cracks and holes in plastic parts
How to repair a broken plastic part
On the front side of the plastic part, cover the through hole with a piece of aluminum foil, the dimensions of which are obviously larger than the through hole formed. We fix the foil on the hole with adhesive tape.
Heat a metal tablespoon over the fire of a wax candle and melt some of the plastic clamp in it.
With the resulting molten mass we fill the cavity of the hole in the plastic part from the back side.
To completely and evenly distribute the liquid plastic mass over the entire volume of the defect, smooth it out with the end of a flat screwdriver, and then with the back of a heated metal spoon.
After the liquid plastic mass has cooled and hardened, remove the adhesive tape and aluminum foil from the front side. Heat the end of a flat screwdriver over a candle fire and smooth out the frozen plastic mass from the front side.
We sand the filling area with 600-grit sandpaper, remove the sanding products with a brush and apply a little oil, such as technical Vaseline, to the repair area, which we rub with a cloth over the repair area.
Then we sand the restored surface with sandpaper No. 1200 and wipe it again with a paper napkin. We finish treating the defect area with a polishing sponge.
