Now the handles of the mosquito net will not break, a useful modification

The plastic handles on the inserted mosquito net dry out and become brittle. When you try to remove it they simply break off. Replacing the handles with new ones gives only a temporary effect for 2-3 years, and to do this, you first need to visit a specialized store to buy a repair kit. You can get out of the situation much easier, faster and better by making your hands independent.

Handle replacement process

To make a handle, you need to cut a strip of mosquito net 3-4 cm wide. The length of the tape for one handle is about 40-60 cm.

It needs to be folded in half twice to get 4 layers.

Having prepared 2 blanks folded from mosquito net scraps for one window, you need to install them. To do this, you need to remove the old broken handles from the removed frame. This is convenient to do with a flat screwdriver. It is necessary to pick up the sealing rubber and pull it out of the groove. After this, the plastic fragments are removed. Then the folded strip is placed into the gap formed under the elastic band with the fold facing itself. It is located slightly to the side from where the handles used to be. The rubber in it gets pinched, so it starts to hold worse. The strip is aligned, and after that the elastic is pressed back into the groove of the frame using a curly screwdriver. Once in place, it clamps the tape, completely preventing it from slipping out when tensioned.

The mesh is turned over, and the part of the tape protruding from the reverse side is cut off with scissors. The second handle is installed in the same way. If the frame with the mesh is difficult to get behind the stops on the window, which happens if it is bent in an arc, then it is worth adding a third handle from the bottom. It can be made from ribbon folded in half.

Such handles for a plug-in mosquito net look quite acceptable on the window. They last much longer than the factory plastic ones. Due to the roughness, they do not slip out from under the elastic band. At the same time, they are thin enough for the sealing cord to fit into place normally. Due to their width, the handles do not undermine the mesh, like wires that are usually used in repairs. This repair option is better than installing plastic handles that dry out every 2-3 years, so even when assembling the insert mesh for the first time, it is better to immediately use tapes so as not to have to deal with repairs later.

Instead of handles, I use a thin cord ~15 cm long (you can fold the thread several times and twist it). I tie knots at the ends. No worse than your option and also works properly.

It is better to cut strips from a transparent plastic bottle.

Metal handles rust into dust even faster.
Once, many years ago, I bought 2 stainless steel eternal handles. If I had known that manufacturers would realize that they would never make eternal handles again, I would have bought the entire set of windows.
