How to easily make a stand for storing hand tools
The convenience of working in a workshop or garage largely depends on the organization of tool storage. When every thing has its place and is accessible, then everything is done faster and without nerves. The most convenient storage system is the hanging system; it allows you to place the tool at eye level, without cluttering up the space like shelves, drawers and boxes. You can make a hanging system with your own hands with minimal investment.
A piece of chipboard or board 70 mm wide will be used as the base of the system. Its length is selected according to the number of tools that need to be secured and the area of the free wall. 2 parallel lines are drawn along the board with a 2 cm indentation from the edges.
After this, markings are made symmetrically using a tape measure at the location of the tools on the board.There should be 5 cm between screwdrivers and a little more between pliers. It is advisable to first lay out the tool on the board and see how it fits.
To install the screwdriver mount, you need to remove the nail from the cable clamp and insert it from the back side. Then the inverted staples are hammered along the marks. Each screwdriver requires 2 staples. One is installed along the top line, the second along the bottom.
To hang wire cutters, pliers and other similar tools, you need to cut several plastic dowels in half. A self-tapping screw is inserted into the upper part with the fungus. Then it is screwed to the beginning of the dowel into the board along the mark on the top line.
Clips for plastic pipes are used to attach ratchets and hammers. They are sold in different diameters, so you can choose the optimal mount for a specific tool. The clip is screwed at the level of the dowels with one self-tapping screw.
Having installed a sufficient number of fasteners, you need to drill the board and screw it to the wall. After this, the tools are placed in their places. To optimize storage, you can make many such systems, each of which will be designed for a specific tool, only screwdrivers, pliers, etc.
Due to the fact that a narrow base is used for installing fasteners, the tool rests with the handle against the edge of the board, and is therefore held securely. If you use a large shield instead of a board, this will not work.
Necessary materials:
- Chipboard or board;
- plastic impact dowels;
- self-tapping screws 40-50 mm;
- fastening clips for plastic pipes;
- round cable cleats.
