How to make a vertical flower bed
A portable vertical flower bed is an unusual bright decoration for a private home or cottage. By planting densely flowering plants in it, you can create an almost continuous column of petals and leaves. The advantage of a vertical flower bed is not only its beauty, but also its very easy care. You can make a flowering column with your own hands in literally 1 hour, and besides, this requires a minimal set of tools.
The design of the flowerbed involves simultaneous watering of the entire column through a tube. It uses a sewer pipe 107 cm long.
A plug is inserted into it from the side of the socket. Then, using a thin drill with a diameter of 1 mm, holes are drilled in it for water to escape. Starting from the plug, they are made in a circle upwards in increments of 20 cm.
Next, take a plastic cylindrical bucket and use a large drill to drill holes in the bottom to drain excess water.
If a container for paints and varnishes or putty is used, then it should be painted on top. A galvanized mesh twisted into a tube is inserted into the bucket. Its edges are tied with wire. The sharp twist of the wire should come out.
Then a sleeve rolled up from black polyethylene film is placed into the mesh cylinder, and a sewer pipe is inserted into it. It is fixed with several dozen small stones dropped to the bottom of the bucket. They will support it and also serve as drainage.
Next, the flowerbed is installed in its permanent location and filled with soil.
It is better not to fill it elsewhere, as it will become too heavy for one person to carry. The column is left in this form for 1-2 days so that the soil compacts. After this, windows are cut into the film according to the size of the mesh cells, and plants are planted in them. It could be flowers or strawberries.
You need to water the flowerbed through a pipe protruding above the ground. Water is poured into it completely to the top. Then it seeps into the soil through the drilled holes, feeding the roots of the plants. All excess water sinks down the ground into the bucket and flows out through its bottom. If it is necessary to fertilize plants, liquid fertilizer can be applied with watering.
