How to attach insulation to a radiator grill using clips from a PET bottle
To attach a trim cut from foil insulation to a car's radiator grille, you will need a smooth middle part of a plastic bottle without corrugations and plastic clips (pistons) for attaching the trim to the car interior.
How to insulate the engine and close the car grille
Taking into account the shape and size of the pad, we mark and burn a system of holes in it with a soldering iron. Why was the simpler piercing replaced with burning? The fact is that when burned, the edges of the holes melt and become stronger. As a result, the insulation does not tear, and the fastening points are strong.
Next, cut the middle of the plastic bottle into strips and divide them into halves. There should be as many halves as there are holes. In our case, 10 pieces. In each of them we also burn holes in the center for installing clips.
We fix the outer parts of the clips in the form of inserts with an internal hole and sliding petals in the holes of the half-rings on the inside, and the fixing pins with caps in the holes burned in the foil insulation overlay. Moreover, the pins must go inside the inserts fixed in the half rings.
Now the foil insulation screen is ready for installation on the car radiator grille. We bend the plastic half rings one by one and insert them into the gaps between the radiator grilles. Behind the grille, the half rings elastically straighten and tightly press the trim to the radiator grille.
In spring the cover can be easily removed. To do this, just pull the caps of the fixing pins of the clips one by one and remove the screen.
