2 options for how to repair the plastic mount for the handle of a brush, broom or mop

A broken broom or mop handle is not uncommon. It can almost always be repaired, and reliably. Let's look at two simple repair options.

1. Thread burning

If the threads on a wooden handle are damaged, the broken part can be sawed off.

Then you need to trim the edge of the handle with a knife to the required diameter so that it can fit into the mount, and smooth the surface with sandpaper.

A wire is wound around the handle with the same pitch of turns as the damaged thread.

Wires from the welding inverter are connected to its edges. We set the minimum current on it and turn it on.

Eventually the wire will burn through the wood, forming a thread.

After this, the cutting can be twisted into a broom or mop.

2. Using bottle threads

Also, instead of a damaged fastening, you can screw a cap from a PET bottle onto a broom or mop with self-tapping screws.

The cut neck of the bottle is put on the handle and heated.

As a result of heat shrinkage, the plastic will compress the handle. All that remains is to strengthen this bushing a little with nails or self-tapping screws.

Now the handle can be wrapped in the lid.

The second option is quite working.
