A curious generator made from microwave oven parts with one coil

A generator for generating autonomous electricity can be made not only on the basis of DC motors, but also assembled literally from scratch. It is quite possible to make a generator at home from wire and magnets from a broken microwave oven. Moreover, the performance of such a device is sufficient to ensure modest energy consumption, for example, in the country.

Materials:

  • Microwave oven transformer;
  • magnets from magnetrons – 15-19 pcs.;
  • cocktail straws;
  • wood screws 50-70 mm;
  • nylon ties;
  • plywood 10 mm.

Generator manufacturing process

To make the generator rotor winding you will need copper wire. It can be pulled out from the secondary winding of the microwave transformer.

You need to cut out a rotor template in the form of a gear from paper. Along it, you need to screw self-tapping screws into the plywood with sections of cocktail tubes stretched on top.

Then the wire is wound along them.

A stator is made from plywood to match the size of the rotor. You need to drill holes in it for gluing magnets from magnetrons.

If they are of different sizes, then you can place them not in a line, but in steps, as in the example.The magnets are glued with epoxy glue with alternating polarity, that is, so that neighboring ones do not attract each other.

The rotor winding is secured with clamps. Then, under it, using a paper template, a housing in the form of the same gear is cut out of plywood.

It is screwed onto a plywood disk. Then the winding is secured to it with ties or filled with epoxy resin. If you do not use epoxy, you can attach a protective layer of plexiglass to the rotor.

The rotor and stator must be united by a common axis.

Now, when one of them rotates, the voltage can be removed from the winding. Moreover, since the generator is wave, there is no sticking in it under load. This allows you to use it as a base for the manufacture of a wind generator, hydroelectric power station or generator powered by an internal combustion engine.

Its performance will depend on the size, number of magnets, and speed. A base made in this way, when tested due to rotation from a drill without load, produces more than 40 V.
