How to make a solenoid valve for water
Solenoid valves are used to remotely open the water flow in the pipeline. They allow you to set up an automatic system for irrigation of plants or watering of animals. You can make a solenoid valve for water based on a valve tap.
Materials:
- plastic valve tap;
- plastic adapter coupling with external thread;
- adhesive plug;
- plastic blank;
- steel rod 4.5 mm;
- enameled copper wire 0.6 mm;
- push-button switch;
- sealed cable gland;
- Light-emitting diode;
- resistor 10 kOhm;
- two-wire wire.
Manufacturing process of water solenoid valve
It is necessary to disassemble the plastic valve tap.
All you need is a housing and a gasket.
Instead of a valve assembly, a plastic adapter will be screwed into the housing to be placed inside the solenoid.
A core for the coil is machined from a plastic blank in the form of a tube with an internal diameter of 4.8 mm. In the center its outer diameter is made 9 mm, and at the edges it is made so as to ensure a tight fit into the adapter coupling.
A piece of steel rod with a cross section of 4.5 mm is immediately prepared, which will serve as the rod of the locking mechanism.
Enameled wire is wound around the core. To prevent it from unwinding, the turns are glued. The finished coil is driven into the adapter.
Now you need to disassemble the push-button switch and remove the spring from it.
Next, the locking mechanism is assembled.
A standard seal from the tap is glued onto the previously prepared rod. The spring is then put on and the rod is inserted into the coil.
The thread of the adapter is lubricated with silicone, and it is screwed into the valve body. Holes are drilled in the plastic plug for Light-emitting diode and a sealed cable gland.
The sealed lead-in is glued into the plug and Light-emitting diode. Moreover, you must first solder a resistor to one leg of the LED, and then the power wires. The cable is inserted into the sealed lead-in.
Now you need to insert a piece of tube into the coupling to close the coil and install the plug.
Wires from the sealed lead-in and from LED twisted with a resistor, then soldered to the coil winding. After this, the plug is placed on the tube.
In a quiet state, such a solenoid valve is always closed. It is necessary to apply a direct current of 12 V to the coil, and the rod will retract, opening the water.
Thus, you can organize remote control of the flow, or configure its opening via a time relay.
