DIY pencil pocket saw
For fine work, as well as trimming in hard-to-reach places, it is convenient to use a pocket file. It can cut wood, plastic and metal, so it will help out in any situation. Making such a tool if you have a lathe will not be particularly difficult.
What you will need:
- jigsaw blade;
- thick film;
- polyester or epoxy resin.
File making process
It is necessary to take a high-quality jigsaw blade and remove the slopes on the opposite side of the teeth.
As a result, on one side it will work like a saw, and on the other like a knife. For further work, it should be sealed with masking tape to avoid injury.
2 tubes are twisted from a rigid film to fill the resin. One will be used to make the handle of the canvas, and the second will be used to make the cap.
The tubes are installed vertically and sealed at the bottom, then a resin mixed with a hardener and dye is poured into them. You need to insert the blade shank into one of them. Since it will sink in the resin, you need to come up with a holder for it while the composition sets.
After the resin has hardened, the film is removed.The handle needs to be processed on a lathe, and a cavity in the workpiece must be machined for the cap. In order for it to fit on the saw, a groove is made at the beginning of the handle to fit its internal diameter.
You can also remove the clip from the ballpoint pen and glue it onto the cap to hook the tool in your pocket.
If the gloss level of the file is not satisfactory, it can be varnished or polished.
