How to make a liquid diode from a spoon, water and soda

If you connect a DC electric motor to a step-down transformer that converts 220V from an outlet into 12V AC voltage, then the rotor does not rotate normally. It just vibrates but doesn't turn.


In order for the rotor to accelerate, one of the wires from the transformer must be connected to the motor through a diode.

If you don’t have a diode, then you can replace it with one interesting device.

Materials:

• foil;
  
• tea spoon;
  
• glass of water;
  
• baking soda.

Manufacturing process of chemical liquid diode

Add a tablespoon of soda to a glass of water and stir.

Then the electrodes are dipped into it. The first is 2 teaspoons, the second is a strip of foil folded several times.


It is important that the electrodes do not touch each other. Two spoons are used to increase the electrode area.
Next, one wire from the transformer is connected to a foil electrode. Then the wires from the motor are connected to the second output of the transformer and the electrode from the spoons.Thanks to the liquid diode, a DC motor connected in this way can be started from an AC voltage source.
