7 ways to open a tightly screwed jar lid
It happens that you just can’t open a jar with a screw cap. In order not to ask for help, you can open it using one of the suggested methods. Some of them will help you open a jar without any effort at all.
Method 1. Equalize the pressure with a knife
For jars that have not yet been opened, the lid does not twist due to low pressure inside. You just need to pick up its edge with a knife so that air can enter it.
After such manipulation the bank will open 100%. The disadvantage of this method is that this lid is no longer suitable for re-canning homemade preparations; the jar itself will remain intact.
Method 2. Pull the tape
Tape is glued to half the circumference of the lid. By pulling it, it can be opened. This will require effort, but more developed muscles, so everything will work out.
Method 3. Use a sticky pad
If you can't open the jar because your fingers are sliding on the lid, take a piece of tape and fold it in half lengthwise, sticky side out. Next it is wrapped around the lid. With such a sticky lining, your fingers will no longer slip, so it will be easier to open the jar.
Method 4. Turn over and support the can
You can turn the jar over and rest the lid on a non-slip surface. By pressing on the bottom and supporting the lid from the sides with your fingers, it will be much easier to turn and open it.
Method 5. Use rubber bands
When the jar and lid slide in your hands, you can pull a bunch of rubber bands on each of them for money. The rubber is non-slip, making it easier to grip and turn the lid.
Method 6. Rubber glove
You can wear a rubber glove on your hand holding the lid. With it, your fingers will not slip, and it will be easier to open.
Method 7. Knock on the lid
You can tap the lid from the sides and top with the handle of a knife. This will help loosen the threads so that the force applied will be enough to screw the cap off.
Using these tips, you can open any jar. The first method will help if it was not opened at all and is held in place due to the difference in pressure, and the rest will also help if it was simply twisted too tightly.
