3 useful ideas for the generalist builder and DIYer
To solve many problems, you can adapt a homemade tool, with which things will go faster and with less labor. Let's look at 3 such ideas that make complex work easier.
Hook for carrying blocks
The 30x30 mm corner needs to be expanded along the edge by about 10 cm.
Each side of the split edge is then bent outward at 90°.
2 pieces of thin tube 5-6 cm long are welded to the ends of the strips.
A pipe handle is welded to the second edge of the corner.
The length is adjusted to your height. This tool can be used to grab hollow cinder block or brick for carrying.
Pipe joining tool
A piece of 15 cm is cut from the M10-M14 stud. Approximately half the length of it must be sharpened from the thread.
Then it is cut lengthwise with a grinder with a thin disk until halfway.
Next, take a piece of wooden cutting. A hole is drilled in it lengthwise and a thread is cut for the stud. It is screwed in and tightened with a nut.
Using this tool, you can crumple the edge of a thin-walled pipe to join it with another pipe without a socket. This may be required when installing a chimney or drain.
Sanding block
For this homemade product, you will need a lath or block 15-20 cm long. Its ends must be rounded, then wide cuts must be made in front of the edges.
Sandpaper is cut under the block, bent to the cuts and wedged into them with inserts. The result is a flat grinding tool.
