How to make a powerful LED strobe using just one transistor
Making a very powerful LED strobe light is quite simple; all you need is one transistor, a capacitor and a resistor. Yes, it won’t be difficult to find just three elements. Such a scheme can be done even by those who are absolutely vaguely familiar with electronics.
This low voltage lighting system operates from 9-15 Volts.
Will need
- Super bright LEDs 1-20 pcs. -
- Transistor BD139 or any similar -
- Capacitor 2200 uF 25 V.
- Resistor 1 kOhm.
Scheme
The scheme is as simple as day. The capacitor is charged through the resistor. As soon as the voltage reaches a certain threshold, the junction of the transistor opens and the capacitor is completely discharged to LEDs, giving them all the tension. Then the transistor will close and the cycle will repeat.
The resistance of the resistor can be used to regulate the frequency of occurrence of light beams, and the capacitance of the capacitor can regulate their brightness.
Making an LED strobe light
Transistor pinout: emitter on the left, collector in the middle, base on the right, which will not be needed and will hang in the air.
We solder the capacitor and for now there is one to check Light-emitting diode.
Solder the resistor.
We connect the 12 V power, plus to the resistor, minus to the connection of the capacitor with the LED. We check the work.
Increase the number LEDs up to 4.
It works, let's increase it further.
The result is an excellent strobe light. There is more than enough brightness for a small room. The light pulse is short and clear, like a thunderstorm before rain.
All that remains is to find or make a suitable housing and install all the parts into it to get a light installation at the output.
