How and from what to assemble a simple granulator
To make cheap animal feed pellets, you need a pellet mill. This is quite expensive equipment, with a long payback period, so if you do not plan to sell granules, then purchasing a unit is not practical. However, you can buy a special ready-made matrix with rollers and make a granulator yourself. This will turn out to be a couple of times cheaper.
The machine frame is welded from a profile pipe. The granulator body is located on it, which is a pipe with an internal diameter slightly larger than the matrix.
The movable matrix must be wrapped in a cylindrical housing on an axis.
That, in turn, is spun from below by a pulley connected to a powerful electric motor.
The axle is mounted on bearings in the housing.
Under the matrix there is an unperforated disk. It is necessary to discharge granules by inertia into the side outlet. Under the matrix itself, a knife hidden in the body is installed a little lower. It breaks the granules that are squeezed out through the holes when they reach a given length.
The body extension is made from the same pipe. It has side cutouts for installing a fixed axle with rollers. The extension is attached to the body with bolts. It is possible to adjust the pressure of the rollers to the matrix.
The essence of the granulator's operation is that when crushed feed is poured in, it falls into the perforation of the matrix, which rotates. By turning, it rolls the rollers on a fixed axis. They compact the feed, causing it to come out under the matrix in the form of long granules. When they reach a certain length, when they collide with a knife, they break off and fall.
At the bottom, the disk throws the feed onto an inclined mesh, from where it enters a collection container. Uncompacted feed falls through the grate and is subsequently poured back into the granulator. When producing granules, it is important to fill in the raw materials slowly; if you rush, the machine jams.
