Eliminating condensation in car lights

Many car owners are faced with the problem of condensation forming in car headlights or lanterns. This phenomenon spoils the appearance of the car and reduces the working life of the lamps.
In this article I will tell you how, using improvised materials, I managed to get rid of the problem of condensation in the rear lights of a HYUNDAI ELANTRA (MD).

My experience in eliminating condensation in car headlights with my own hands

For quite a long time I simply did not pay attention to the appearance of condensation in the rear lights located on the trunk lid. Condensation appeared periodically during the cold season and after a contactless car wash. After some time, it completely evaporated and the problem was solved on its own. One day I finally decided to figure out the cause of condensation.
To do this, I removed the decorative panel of the trunk lid,

which is secured with 11 plastic reusable clips,

I disconnected the flashlight connector and dismantled it by unscrewing the 3 fastening nuts.

After that, I took out the light bulbs by turning their sockets counterclockwise.

To my surprise, I did not find any seals in the places where the cartridges adhere to the flashlight body.

To seal the cartridges with the flashlight body, I used the first rubber bands that came to hand, wrapping them around the cartridges and tying them with a simple knot.

Next, I installed the cartridges with rubber bands in their places and turned them clockwise until they stop. I carefully cut off the protruding ends of the elastic bands with scissors.

I carried out a similar procedure with another flashlight. After that, I installed the lights in their places, connected them and installed the decorative panel of the trunk lid.

Thus, having spent only 20 minutes of time, without any material costs, I got rid of an unpleasant phenomenon that probably annoys many car owners.

But faith doesn’t allow you to pick up an elastic band from plumbing supplies?

And the elastic knot does not add a tight fit around the circumference, perhaps silicone will cope with this problem better...
