Decoupage glass bottle

As you know, for all kinds of alcoholic medicines (say, tinctures) it is customary to use dark containers (they are also sold in darkened small vials in pharmacies). So in our house there was a need to combine several alcohol-based tinctures to prepare medicine. But no suitable container was found. I had to look for opportunities to acquire it. Namely, we simply decided to take an ordinary vodka bottle and darken it, decorating it with an ornament using the technique decoupage.

Particular difficulties in making such crafts no, but the result may be pleasant and useful.
We first properly treated the surface of the glass container by removing the stickers and wiping it with vodka (any alcohol-containing solution is suitable for these purposes), that is, we degreased the “field of activity.”
Necessary materials:
necessary materials

• clean flat glass bottle;
• napkins with a pattern;
• scissors:
• PVA glue;
• soft brush;
• white acrylic paint;
• bronze gouache;
• matte acrylic varnish;
• varnish with glitter;
• small bowl (for mixing paints and glue);
• wooden popsicle stick.

Operating procedure:
Pour a small amount of acrylic paint into a small container, add gouache and stir until the color is uniform. It is enough for us that it turns out grayish.

Now we arm ourselves with a brush and carefully paint the entire bottle with the resulting paint up to the ring under the cap.

As soon as the paint dries (it stops staining your hands and sticking), we repeat the procedure, applying a second layer - we need to prevent light from leaking into the bottle.

After the paint has thoroughly dried, we cut out the fragments of the design we need from a paper napkin and separate the excess layers (there can be from one to three).

We pour a little glue into a bowl (for convenience) and with the first brush stroke we mark the exact location of the design on the bottle, applying it to the painted surface.

Next, with smooth movements in different directions (from the center to the edges), we move the brush with the next portion of glue over a paper napkin, trying to release all the bubbles and smooth out the resulting wrinkles. Glue the second design on the back of the bottle and leave the container in a vertical position until the glue dries completely.

When the surface of the container becomes dry, cover it with a double layer of acrylic varnish and dry it again.

Now all we have to do is slightly “edit” the design in a few places with glitter varnish, and our medicine container is ready for use.

When the outer surface of the bottle is completely dry, you can safely pour any liquid into it.
