New life for old jeans

For almost every girl, jeans are the most practical and favorite thing. They are suitable for walking, traveling, and noisy parties. Therefore, parting with old jeans is very difficult. Don't throw frayed jeans in the trash. You can use them to make a beautiful denim rug for your bath or kitchen. To do this, you don’t need to be a super seamstress, just be able to hold a needle and thread in your hands! Well, now let’s boldly go to our wardrobe and sort through our “valuable” jeans!

To make a rug we need:
- old jeans or skirts;
- scissors;
- a needle and thread to match the jeans;

The rug is made quickly and fun. First, you need to trim the waistbands and pockets of your jeans.

We don’t throw away belts and pockets; they can also be used to make useful things (a case for a cell phone, a laptop). Next, cut strips of approximately 5-7 cm wide from the trouser legs.

On skirts, we cut strips from the hem, cutting off pockets and belts. If the jeans are dark, then it is better to add fringe to the edges of the stripes by pulling a thread along the strip.

Once the strips are prepared, you can proceed to the main task.We take three strips and secure them on top with a thread and a needle.

The rug will be more interesting and brighter if the stripes are of different colors. Next, we begin to weave a “loose” braid from the strips.

When braiding braids, the strips need to be folded in half.

If the length of the strips has run out, you need to “extend our pigtail” by sewing on new strips. We sew the strips with hidden stitches.

The weaving process is very exciting and addictive, the main thing is to use all your accuracy. You can weave a rug in front of the TV while watching your favorite movie or series. We process the end of the braid with a piece of jeans using a thread and a needle.

After weaving the braids, we begin to form the rug. The rug can be made rectangular or round. In this case, we form a round rug, laying out the braid in a circle.

We sew each row of braids tightly to the previous row, using threads and a needle to match the rug.

Now our work is ready!

This rug can be safely machine washed at 30 degrees with a spin cycle of 800 units. If you own a sewing machine, for greater durability, you can stitch the rug with 10*10cm squares. You can do stitching as the rug thickens a little!
A rug made from old jeans will perfectly complement your interior in the hallway or even in the bathroom! It will be a good gift for your beloved friend or mother-in-law. Your loved ones will appreciate this present with dignity, since a gift made with your own hands is the most valuable!

    Just today I was looking longingly at the jeans the child had grown out of. I couldn't find a use for them. And I saw this master class and immediately perked up: I don’t have to throw things away, because they can be put to use.
