How to make cheap guides for roller blinds

Budget plastic windows, even if they are of acceptable quality, create some inconvenience during their operation due to the lack of certain functions. But options not provided for by the window design can be easily created yourself from available materials and at almost no cost.

How to make guides from a plastic cable channel for roller blinds

The guides are made from a white PVC cable channel with a cross-section of 1.6×1.6 cm. We cut two identical blanks from it, the length of which must be consistent with the height of the window sash and the place where the roller blind is attached.

We remove the cover of the cable channel, since we will not need it in the future, and stick small pieces of double tape to one of the sides of the base of the cable channel on the outside along two edges and in the middle.

When the roller blind is in a rolled position, we glue the base of the cable channel to the sash so that their open side is directed towards the curtain. At the same time, we carefully check the transverse distance and parallelism of the guides, taking into account the width of the roller blind.

The transverse strip, fixed to the bottom of the roller blind, sliding along two guides, will now not move away from the plane of the window even if the sash is opened at an angle, and it will no longer be swayed by a squally wind or an accidental draft.
