7 amazingly useful ideas for your home and workshop
Sometimes everyday difficulties can be solved in a completely unusual way, using ingenuity. Let's look at 6 interesting ideas for the home craftsman. At least several of them will definitely come in handy in the near future.
1. Splicing sheet materials and boards using links from a roller chain
The roller chain can be disassembled into links and used for splicing sheet materials or boards. We just screw them on with self-tapping screws with a small step from each other.
2. External wiring using cable ties
You can secure the wire to the wall by drilling a hole and placing a double-folded cable tie into it. It should not reach the wall by a few millimeters. Then a self-tapping screw is screwed into the hole. The tie will work like a dowel, so it will hold well.
After this, you can lay the wire and tighten it with a tie. Its excess length is cut off. The result is a reliable fastening, also made of dielectric.
3. Fastening to hollow walls with a dowel and tie
If you need to attach something to a wall made of hollow material, then you should drill the dowel across the middle with a thin drill. A plastic tie is threaded through the hole.
Then a hole of sufficient diameter is drilled in the wall to insert a dowel into it. It is placed inside, after which the tie is pulled towards itself. The dowel will be blocked, and you can fix it with a tie as needed.
4. Adhesive thread in chipboard and similar materials
If you need to make a thread in chipboard or a similar material, then it is enough to drill a hole in it that is slightly larger in diameter than the hardware. Hot hot melt glue is poured into it, and a bolt or pin is inserted and twisted. After the glue sets, the hardware is unscrewed, leaving a thread.
All that remains is to cut off the protruding glue.
5. Insulation of strands with molten plastic
If you need to insulate the twist or exposed part of the drive, then you can melt the plastic cover over a flame. While the plastic is hot, it is easy to cover the exposed core.
6. Splicing sheet materials with nails and wire
If you need to connect 2 parts, you can fold them close together and drive nails in a checkerboard pattern along the edges. Then a wire is wound between them. The same is done on the other side.
7. Vegetable cutter from a can
To quickly cut potatoes, carrots or cucumbers, you can make a vegetable cutter. To do this, you need to drill 2 holes on a metal lid from a threaded jar, marked for the edges of the mounting knife.
A window is cut into half of the lid. Its edges need to be sanded.
Then the knife blade is bolted onto the lid. It must be raised by placing washers underneath. The cutting edge should be turned away from the cut window.
After this, you can cut the vegetables with a blade, and the pieces will fall into the jar. It turns out very quickly and accurately. The most important thing is that the blade can be changed when it becomes dull.
