How to make creative wooden wall decor from scrap lumber

Almost always, when it comes to wall decor, we mean gypsum tiles or wooden slats. It's beautiful, but it happens so often that it's far from creative. We offer a more recent solution that looks no worse, and maybe even better.

What you will need:

  • Lumber trims;
  • baking soda;
  • glue sticks.

The process of creating wall decor from practically unnecessary construction waste

To create decor, any scraps of lumber, preferably from hard wood, are suitable.

They need to be spread out on a circular table to get a strip of the same cross-section. However, their length may be different.

Now you need to split the made blanks lengthwise with an ax. The resulting chipped surfaces will create our decorative surface.

As a result, some of the chipped workpieces will have a sharp, torn edge. This shouldn't happen. Therefore, they will need to be trimmed with a miter saw. The result should be blanks with even ends.

Next, the blanks should be aged to make them look more interesting.To do this, a couple of packs of soda are dissolved in water, and the pieces of wood are soaked in it for several minutes.

Then they need to be laid out in the sun and dried.

The wall that needs to be decorated should first be painted a dark color. Then a horizontal line is drawn on it, and with it the first row of planks is glued with the chips facing outwards.

The easiest way to glue is with a glue gun.

The blanks are glued closely, row by row, until the entire wall is decorated.

The result is a very beautiful, unusual solution. Each board is unique and has its own texture, which creates a stunning effect, especially with artificial lighting from below or above.
