Salt dough wall panel for Valentine's Day

Immediately after the New Year's souvenirs, it was the turn of the “Valentines”, this time they were made in the form of wall panels and pendants. We make them from salt dough according to the traditional recipe, adding only a little starch to make it easier to work with small parts.
Valentine's Day is not only a holiday for all lovers, it is often another reason to express your sympathy and thank your loved ones and acquaintances for their role in your life.
Here is the process of creating such a wall panel with your own hands. It’s not at all difficult to make, and the result can be a very original homemade product with the right mood.
To begin with, let’s prepare salt dough, toothpicks, a plastic stack or knife, paints and brushes to work on the craft. You will also need a beautiful ribbon to hang your handmade panel.
First of all, you should decide on the shape of the blank for the panel. You can give a piece of dough the desired shape simply with your hands or using a rolling pin and knife. Smooth out uneven edges with a brush moistened with water. After this, you need to remember about the holes for the ribbon, which can be made with a toothpick or the other side of the brush.

Then we immediately move on to decorating. The pattern can be outlined with a toothpick, fabric prints on the dough, or any interesting objects: buttons, baby seals, beads. The plot itself needs to be fashioned from small pieces of salt dough. We chose a butterfly and a flower, the individual parts of which are shaped like hearts. You can attach three-dimensional figures to the panel blank, again using a brush.

After this, the panel must be set aside for the dough to dry. To speed up the process, you can use the oven or simply leave the products in the air in a warm place, for example, near a radiator. Don't forget to turn it over to dry evenly.
After 1-2 days, it’s time to move on to painting the finished crafts. Gouache paints are best suited for these purposes.

Valentine - the homemade product is almost ready, all that remains is to cover it with varnish or transparent glue for greater color durability.

When children work with a test, their imagination is often not limited to one idea and they can end up with a huge number of different plot panels that can be used as gifts.

My kids and I make our own “Valentines” every year to give to everyone we want to say “thank you” to: teachers, grandparents, friends, neighbors or classmates. We are preparing for this holiday in advance, because many people need to give a piece of their warmth, and this craft is best suited for this role.
