DIY garden auger made from trash

To make holes for planting very quickly, you can use a small auger and a cordless screwdriver. With such a device it is easy to plant flowers, seeds, and tree seedlings. You can make such a drill with your own hands.

Materials:

• Sheet steel 2 mm;
• stud M14-M20;
• self-tapping screws – 4 pcs.;
• drill shank.

Drill manufacturing process

To make a drill auger, it is necessary to cut 3 disks with a diameter of 100 mm with holes in the center of 15-20 mm from sheet steel.

The resulting washers are cut, and their edges are moved apart.

At the next stage, the workpieces are welded into a screw. Then it needs to be sharpened. After this, a rod or pin is welded into the auger.

4 self-tapping screws are welded to the edge of the stud in front of the auger. Their edges must be brought together and welded to form a point. A regular or “SDS-plus” drill shank is welded to the second end of the stud if you plan to use a hammer drill.

As a result, we get a drill that can be used to very quickly drill holes both for planting plants and, for example, for posts.It can be made to any width and length, the main thing is that the power of a drill or screwdriver is enough.
