The simplest way to cast silicone fishing baits
The technology for casting silicone baits is not as complicated and expensive as it might seem. It is quite possible to make excellent vibrating tails and other good quality fishing products without a centrifuge. For this, in addition to the materials, you only need a microwave, a 20 cc syringe, a transparent glass beaker and a casting mold.
Materials:
- casting silicone with Soft hardness;
- paint for silicone;
- glitter 0.4 mm;
- lubricant for molds.
Silicone bait manufacturing process
Before use, the silicone should be shaken according to the instructions. It is poured into a glass container and placed in the microwave for 3 minutes.
Every 20-40 seconds, the heating should be stopped and the silicone should be stirred with a stick. You should work with gloves, as the temperature of the composition rises to 140-200°C. As it warms up, it will thicken. You need to bring it to the consistency of fresh flowing honey. After heating, you should let the silicone stand for half a minute to remove air bubbles.
The casting mold needs to be lubricated. If there is no specialized lubricant, regular sunflower oil will do.The greased halves of the mold are pulled together with a clamp, or simply rubber bands for money.
Dye is added to the hot silicone.
After stirring, add glitter if desired.
The composition is mixed again and drawn into the syringe. It is important not to touch the syringe's nose to the glass, as the plastic will instantly melt. Next, the silicone is poured into the mold.
After a minute, the casting can be removed. The silicone in the cup should be reheated and the next batch of baits should be poured. The sprues and unsuccessful castings are melted without problems, which means waste-free production.
You can cast baits without dye only with sparkles, combine different pigments, and make transparent vibrotails. The Soft hardness silicone used is suitable for casting 1-4 inch baits, so this composition can be cast into different forms.
