Materials:

  • 3/4 inch pipe;
  • nuts and washers M12;
  • M12 pin;
  • strip 20x2 mm;
  • wooden blank for the handle;
  • rubber for linings.

Opener manufacturing process

It is necessary to make a blank from the pipe 320 mm long with a cutout 20 mm wide and 300 mm long. Its sides must be strictly parallel.
Making a cut in a steel pipe

A strip flag is welded to the edge of the M12 nut. The width of it should slide freely inside the pipe slot. Its length is 30 mm. Next, 2 jaws are bent from the strip to grip the lid of the jar. One of them is welded to the flag on the nut.

Insert into the pipe

The second stop must be welded to the pipe at the end of the cutout. Then the first jaw with a nut is inserted into the tube.

    If you do not need to preserve tomatoes in the future in this jar with the same lid, then the easiest way to open the jar is simply by prying the edge of the lid with the same can opener until a characteristic pop is heard, which signals pressure equalization and after that the lid will open easily with your hands. In principle, if this is done carefully, even the lid can be reused.
    Attempts to open even with standard openers often lead to deformation of the lids, which negates all the advantages of the openers.
