How to make a rotary tool organizer from an old hub
When working in the workshop, the mess on the workbench is very annoying. You constantly have to rearrange tools, or look for what you need in a general pile. Having an organizer of the proposed design, there will be no more chaos on your workbench.
Materials:
- hub;
- plywood;
- wooden round profile 14-17 mm.
Organizer manufacturing process
The structure will consist of plywood discs arranged in 3 tiers. Each of them is perforated for installing the tool. To attach the organizer to the workbench, a hub is provided so that it can be rotated.
First of all, you need to cut out 2 large disks from plywood for the lower tier. Their diameter should not be greater than the depth of the workbench.
One disk remains unchanged, and on the second you need to cut out the inner circle. To do this, when marking, the radius on the compass needs to be reduced by 90 mm.
The result is a ring and another inner circle. In the latter, you need to cut the disk in the same way. All edges should then be cleaned with sandpaper.
The rings and the central part are laid out on a large disk.After this, markings are made. We need to divide them into sectors. In the larger ring, holes are cut according to the marks using a crown for spray paint cans. Then you need to connect the large disk to the ring using 4 dowels from a round profile. They sit on glue.
The next task is to install a smaller ring on the high racks, and the remaining disk on the longer ones in order to get the second and third tier. To do this, the parts are applied to the sole, aligned and drilled together, first with a small drill, then drilled out to fit the profile.
In the center of the sole, before the tiers are secured, holes are drilled for installing the hub. Then the ring and disc are installed. Along their circumference you need to make holes for screwdrivers, drills, chisels, files and other tools.
The hub is screwed to the tabletop. Then the organizer is installed on it. On its lower tier you can place paint, aerosol lubricants, and gas cylinders. For example, screwdrivers are located on top; feather drills can be placed on the third tier.
