Why is it better to “drive” a nail into the platband with a screwdriver?
When nailing thin trims, additional strips and corners, there is a risk of splitting the wood with a nail. The most reliable way to prevent this is to screw the nail in instead of hammering it in.
What you will need:
- screwdriver;
- hammer.
The process of nailing thin platbands
To prevent the nail from splitting thin lumber, it must be twisted. To do this, it is clamped in a screwdriver, and the part is drilled through it in place like a drill.
Then the cartridge is untwisted, and the nail is driven to the end with a hammer. With this installation method, the platband will not crack, and the nail will go in smoothly without creasing.
