How to turn your smartphone into a metal detector in 1 minute

There are many things you can’t turn your smartphone into now: an oscilloscope, an audio frequency generator, and a universal remote control... Everything can be achieved by simply installing software. This article will discuss how to turn a smartphone into a metal detector.
Unfortunately, this is not suitable for every cell phone model, but for those who have an electronic compass. Fortunately, most modern models have this function.

What do you need to turn your smartphone into a metal detector?

In principle, no physical modification of the device is required. You only need to install the appropriate software from Google Play for phones on the system Android. And here are two links for you, but you can look for other applications:

All applications are free, well, not counting the advertising in them...

Let's launch the application. To test, I buried several metal objects under a layer of sand.

We move the smartphone over the search surface and, as soon as the deviation of the oscillogram is noticed on the screen, we mark the place.

It's all so banally simple.

Conclusion

Don't expect miracles from your phone's metal detector. Its sensitivity is not great and it is not able to detect small objects.
Since its action is based on searching for a shift in the magnetic field, the result of the readings can be affected by anything and not just metals.
But this does not mean that it has no use. It is still possible for them to detect a metal frame or wiring in the wall.

We need a program that allows you to work with a remote sensor, with a flat coil, then the result will be different, it may or may not compete with the pros, but it will already be a serious device.

Useless thing! I tried hidden wiring - zero response, with or without voltage. Actually broken nails in wood also do not react in any way, there is a little reaction to the protruding nail itself, but when the head is deepened by 3-5mm there is no longer a reaction.
But massive metalheads, which are, by the way, visible, react perfectly ;)

You probably installed the first program. The second one squeaks well for wiring.

Special is always better than universal. These are just entertaining experiments for killing smart people.

“We’re trying to drip” - what kind of liquid? No one has canceled the rules of spelling and punctuation, even for victims of the Unified State Exam.
