dream Catcher

Dream catcher is a traditional Indian amulet, a circular net decorated with feathers. It is believed that it is able to attract, “catch” good dreams, and, in addition, it can become a wonderful decoration for the bedroom.

So, how to make a dream catcher?

To do this, you will need a seaming lid from a jar, iris thread, bobbin thread, several feathers and beads.

First, take the lid from the jar and cut out a ring from it. Then we wrap this ring tightly with thread. Like this:

After the entire ring is filled, tie the ends of the threads. We leave the short ponytail alone for now, we will need it later. We unwind about three meters of “iris” from the ball, roll it into a small skein so that it is convenient to work. We begin to weave the mesh: we lay the thread in a loop and wrap it around the ring, we lay the next loop... Look at the photo and everything will immediately become clearer.

When the entire circle is filled with loops, you will need to move on to the next one. To do this, we wrap the thread around the first loop and secure it with a knot in the middle of this loop. We weave the next circle in exactly the same way, except that now we fasten the loops not to the ring, but to the middle of the loops of the first circle.

The loops will gradually become smaller, and then they will completely converge into a circle. We tighten this circle so that the mesh is leveled, after which we secure the thread with a knot and carefully cut it. Here's what happened:

The main element is ready, now let's start making jewelry. Our Dream Catcher will have three pendants with feathers and beads. First of all, we form tassels from feathers and wrap them with bobbin threads at the base in order to secure them.

Now we cut off about a meter of “iris” for each tassel, and wrap their bases so as to hide the bobbin threads, and tie the ends. We string beads, and you need to try so that the first bead “sits” on a bunch of feathers, and the rest according to your imagination.

And finally, you need to secure these “tails” to the ring, and also make a loop from the end of the thread remaining from the winding so that the Catcher can be hung.

Now your amulet is ready. Have a nice sleep!
