Simple mobile workbench
A simple mobile table - a workbench that you can make for your workshop or garage. It does not require scarce materials; it is made of wood without any welding. Thanks to the use of wheels, it can be easily moved to any place.
For the construction I used 90mm x35mm pine boards, they are easy to find at a hardware store. If they are not available, then you can use others of any size and wood. For the countertop I used MDF boards; of course, you can use others.
Making the sides of the workbench
The workbench will measure 1800 mm by 900 mm. I will make two load-bearing sides, then I will combine them with crossbars and make a table.
We mark and cut four identical boards.
These will be the supporting legs of the table. We make grooves with cuts from a circular saw in all the boards at once. And then using a chisel we remove the thin teeth and get grooves for inserting the board.
We apply wood glue for reliability.
We fasten it.
We fix it with self-tapping screws.
This is what you should end up with:
Making the base and screwing the wheels
We connect our sides with guides. There are four of them in total.
Add two slanting crossbars for stability. In the future, the structure will not move to the side.
Screw on the wheels.
Turn the workbench over from top to bottom. Now it should be on wheels.
We fasten the upper part with the same four guides.
And then we also add longitudinal guides so that the MDF does not sag.
We lay MDF, we get table shelves
We cut out pieces of MDF boards according to the area. We lay them on the table and fasten them with self-tapping screws.
Add guides for the middle shelf.
We secure everything with self-tapping screws.
And we put MDF on the second shelf. And then to the third.
We clean out unevenness and burrs.
The workbench is ready!
It can be coated with stain or other protective compound.
It’s easier to work with wood than with iron, and it’s quite possible to make this table in one day or even faster.
