There is nothing cozier on a cold autumn or winter evening than warm socks. After all, if your feet are warm, then the chilliness recedes.
Classic socks are knitted on 5 needles in knit stitch. Almost all socks are knitted this way. For knitting socks, a tool such as a hook is not often used. It will be even more interesting to introduce readers to this method of making woolen socks. In addition, several proprietary secrets will be revealed that are used in order to get thick and warm socks.
yarn

For knitting, we choose two types of yarn: one acrylic thread, which is quite thin, and the second pure wool thread, which is also thin. We will knit them in pairs. Acrylic will give strength to the product, wool will give the body and the necessary density.
Depending on the resulting thickness of the double thread, select a hook. Knitting should be quite dense.
Crocheting a sock begins, unlike knitting, from the toe. Another useful experience: it’s worth knitting two socks at once, especially if you don’t count the loops and don’t make a knitting pattern, this way they turn out faster and symmetry is maintained.

We start knitting with an amigurumi loop. This is a special loop that allows you to get a tight circle from the very beginning, so that there is no gap at the very beginning of knitting. It is called that because this technique was invented for knitting amigurumi toys. We start working with a loop around the index finger, which we tie in a circle with regular single crochets in the amount of 6 pieces, and then remove the loop from the finger and pull the ring by the free end so that all the loops are closed. For a more detailed study, you can find a video with a lesson on knitting an amigurumi ring.

Then we continue knitting in the round, adding stitches evenly until we get a circle to form a toe of the required diameter.
Approximate measurements for our knitting method: for size 36-38 the circle should be 7-8 cm in diameter, for size 39-41 - diameter 8-9 cm, etc.

After this, we stop adding loops and continue knitting in a circle, thus knitting part of the sock from the toe to the heel. Trying on a sock. We knit taking into account that the sock should be at least one size too big.

We knit the heel. First, the lower part of the heel is knitted with a straight fabric of double crochets or single crochets if a denser texture is needed. The width of the heel pad is equal to the width of the toe, i.e. half the loops around the sock. The height of the heel pad is equal to half its length, i.e. Folding it in half we get a square. The last row of the heel pad should go in the direction of the general pattern, i.e. knitting should continue along the outside of the product.

Next we return to circular knitting. We tie the heel fabric to the corner of the connection with the toe part. We knit three loops in the corner with elongated stitches, which are done like this: the working thread is pulled through the bottom loop, and then a double crochet is knitted.

This technique is used on both sides of the heel. In this way, the connection between the heel and the toe of the sock is filled. When the corner of the joint is filled, decrease the loops evenly around the entire circumference until their number matches the number of loops on the toe part. Next, continue knitting in the round to the desired sock height.

We finish knitting the sock with a scalloped edge. Repeat binding: *in one loop of the bottom row, 3 double crochets, 3 ch, 3 double crochets, skip 2 stitches of the bottom row*.

Having completed the knitting, we get two identical socks a little larger than we need.

The next step is washing in hot water. Without hesitation, you can wash it in a washing machine at a temperature of 60°C, or boil the socks in a container of water on the stove for 15-20 minutes. Place in cold water, then remove, shape and leave to dry flat. Naturally, with such heat treatment, the socks will “shrink” and acquire the desired size, while not being loose with a uniform, solid knit.

As a result, the socks are dense, fluffy and very warm. Wear and give with pleasure.

Cute socks. I can only knit them with knitting needles.I once crocheted baby booties, it will be interesting to learn how to make these. With such a detailed diagram, I think I can handle it quickly.
