Carnival top hat

The New Year's Eve is always bright and fun. I propose to diversify our celebration by remembering the ancient custom of organizing a carnival night on December 31st.

Of course, for a real carnival it is very difficult to make a costume yourself. You need to work hard to make it and think through every little detail. But to create the spirit of the carnival, it is enough for each guest to come up with a small accessory. For example, the headdress of some bright character. In a few hours you can turn any man at the table into a London dandy. To do this, just create a capital top hat out of cardboard and colored paper.

We will need:

thick cardboard;

Whatman paper rolled into a tube for several days;

plain colored paper;

PVA glue;

a piece of rubber band - about 20 cm.

We cut out a rectangle from cardboard with a length slightly less than the volume of the head (so that the hat does not fall to the ears), and a height of 20-25 cm plus 1 cm on the side for joining. We cover it with colored paper. Next we roll it into a tube and glue it together.

For the bottom, cut out a circle with a diameter equal to the diameter of the pipe.We also cover it with colored paper on the outside and glue it to the pipe on the inside. To do this, when cutting the circle, leave 1 cm for allowance. Next, we cut this allowance into tails that will connect the circle and the pipe well.

Now we take the folded Whatman paper. We also cut out a circle from it, only its diameter will be 8 cm larger than the diameter of the finished pipe. In its middle we will draw another circle with a diameter equal to the diameter of the finished pipe. But we will cut out this drawn circle taking into account an allowance of 1 cm. This allowance, like the previous one, will also be cut into tails.

We glue the resulting ring on both sides with colored paper. We do this very carefully so that the whatman paper does not straighten out, since the fields of our cylinder should be raised up. Now, using tails, we fasten the cylinder pipe and the fields.

Since the hat does not fit on the head, we will hold it in place with an elastic band. To do this, we make small holes with an awl in the brim of the hat as close as possible to the cylinder pipe and stretch and secure the elastic band there.

Let's decorate our top hat with a snowball - and the carnival accessory is ready!

    A very necessary master class! He will help someone out more than once!
    My son studied at a choreographic studio. One of the performances required a top hat (they danced the Charleston).We lost our minds in searching for him. As a result, I sat down and made it myself, much like in this master class. It turned out good too. The main thing is that the thing sits tightly and does not fly off your head. I also covered it with black fabric. And there was no rubber band.
