How to make beautiful sconces from PVC pipes for your home and save money

Tasteful sconces in a modern style with quality sockets inside cost a lot of money. Considering that you need at least a couple of them, it makes sense to save money and make the lamps yourself. This can be made literally from scraps of sewer pipe.

Materials:

  • PVC pipe 110 mm;
  • steel strip 20 mm;
  • light bulb sockets with brackets;
  • wires;
  • M4 screws with nuts;
  • spray paint.

The process of making sconces from PVC pipes

First of all, we decide on the length of the sconce. This is a creative process, so you can make them within the standard 250-350 mm, or according to your wishes. We cut blanks from a plastic pipe.

Now you need to draw 2 waves on the pipes in order to cut out the plastic between them. This gap is needed for the light of the lamps to escape. In the center, the walls of the cut should approach each other by 10 mm, and move away at the edges. So that the waves on all the workpieces are the same, we cut out a template from paper and trace the waves along it.

Using a jigsaw, we cut the pipes along the waves.

Then we rub the edges of the cuts with sandpaper.Immediately sand the pipes with P320 sandpaper to make the surfaces matte for painting. If there are inscriptions or lines on the workpieces, then scrape them off with a knife blade.

To attach each sconce, you need to saw off a 30 mm wide ring from the pipe.

Then we cut out a block 50 mm wide and 125 mm long. We warm the ring and pull it onto it. The result is a frame for the bracket.

We glue sandpaper onto the unnecessary piece of pipe and sand the frames to round them inward.

Then we glue the frame onto the sconce blanks in the back center.

Now you need to make a mounting bracket to mount the sconce on the wall. It bends out of the steel strip. The bracket should be screwed to the wall, and the lamp frame will be placed on it. The bracket itself can be fixed to the sconce using screws screwed into the side of the frame. To do this, holes are made accordingly and threads are cut.

A hole for the wire is drilled in the body in the center of the frame. Then holes are marked and made for attaching the cartridges. Then we screw the latter inside the sconces to check.

Now you can take everything back apart, degrease the lamps, and spray paint them. We apply white on top and golden color on the inside. Naturally, we use masking tape so as not to splash other paint on already painted surfaces. We also paint the cartridge brackets, screws with nuts and wires.

After the paint has dried, you can begin electrical installation. We connect the cartridges and screw their wires to the connection in the wall.

We get sconces that are simply perfect in appearance, but you can’t tell that they were made with your own hands in an hour and literally for pennies.
