Circular machine made from a bicycle hub and a washing machine motor
Having an electric motor from a washing machine, you can make a table saw, but to do this you also need to assemble a shaft for installing a saw blade. It must be centered and have at least 2 bearings. It requires a significant investment to assemble or purchase, but there is a way to make the shaft practically free. You can use a front wheel bicycle hub as it. Let's look at how to assemble it and center it.
All components are selected to match the diameter of the bicycle hub axle. In addition, you will need an adapter ring between the outer diameter of the axle and the inner diameter of the saw blade, as well as steel tubes for making several bushings.
We disassemble the wheel: use wire cutters to break the spokes and remove the hub.
When using a used bicycle hub, you need to disassemble it, wash it in diesel fuel, gasoline or white spirit, then renew the lubricant and put it back.
To secure the saw blade, an enlarged washer is installed on either side of the axle protruding from the bushing.
A saw blade with an adapter ring is placed behind it to compensate for the difference in diameters. This minimizes runout during rotation. Then a plate is placed that can evenly press the disk over a large area, preventing it from turning.
The plate itself is clamped with two nuts, which is guaranteed to prevent the disk from loosening if it gets stuck in the wood.
On the second side, an enlarged washer is installed on the axle, then a sleeve made of a tube is installed to move the pulley further away. Behind the bushing there is again an enlarged washer, then a plate, a regular washer and a second plate. Two plates separated by a washer and directed in different directions provide a light pulley for the belt drive from the engine.
If the seat diameter of the plates is greater than the thickness of the bicycle axle, then rings or a narrow bushing can be used for centering, as in the example. Its width should be equal to two plates and a washer. This entire structure is clamped with a nut.
This axis is installed on a circular table. You can fix it on the back of the tabletop with a wide bracket cut from sheet metal. If there is welding, then you can weld mounting tabs for the bolts onto the bushing. The motor is then secured under the table and a belt is pulled between their pulleys.
If desired, you can make guides for a smooth saw.
