How to make an original ottoman with your own hands

In the modern world, where seemingly anything can be bought and sold, it is very difficult to accustom yourself to do certain things with your own hands. But you can do whatever you want. For example, furniture.
Of course, we are not talking now about how to make a wall for the living room with your own hands. This is a difficult task and will require a lot of skill to implement. But few small pieces of furniture can be made.
For example, make an ottoman that will pleasantly diversify the interior of your apartment.

To create such an ottoman we will need cardboard, wood board, glue, a furniture stapler with staples, waste fabric, padding polyester or other soft material, fabric for the base and leatherette. You also need to take care of purchasing a cord for the ottoman.
When all this is ready, let's get to work. It should be noted right away that the production time for such an ottoman is approximately 48 hours. But, of course, experienced experts can do it faster. Moreover, to make this furniture in general, you do not need any special skills other than the ability to use a ruler, glue, stapler and, perhaps, tape.

So, first we take two cardboard boxes measuring 40 cm by 60 cm.If there are no cardboard boxes, then you can simply glue them together from cardboard. Let us immediately note that we will need a lot, a lot of cardboard. In the manufacture of this ottoman, cardboard was used, which was left over from an entire furniture set of 8 pieces, including cabinets, a bookshelf, a table, bedside tables, etc.
We put cardboard inside the boxes, first twisting it. You don’t have to twist it, but simply lay cardboard rectangles of the required size on top of each other and glue them with tape.

You can make a cardboard base at once, rather than taking two boxes. However, this will result in a very large product. Next, two boxes will be placed on top of each other.

In order for the top of our product to be more durable, it is necessary to take a wood slab of the required size (40 cm by 60 cm). We assembled such a slab from 2 pieces.

The plate will then be glued to the top of the ottoman.
After the cardboard base is ready, we glue the boxes and glue the wood board on top.
Then we take the fabric we don’t need and wrap it around the future ottoman. This is necessary so that all the parts adhere more closely to each other. This is also partly an option for competent disposal of already worn out and suitable only for “throwing away” fabric. You can fasten fabric and cardboard using a furniture stapler.

In our case, we applied 3 layers of padding polyester.
Now that the lining is ready, we begin to attach white dermantine using nails or a stapler. First we make a dermantine pattern, which will consist of 2 parts. Side parts and top rectangular sheet.Only at the bottom we leave space for the bottom lining.
