Parrot toys

Nature has given parrots great curiosity and interest in everything new that appears in their cages. To prevent your feathered pet from looking for something to do on his own, direct his talents in the desired direction, namely, if the bird likes to climb high, make a rope ladder for it, if it often looks in the mirror, attach a bell to it on a long pendant, etc. . With the help of such minor changes, the parrot will become more interested in living in its home.
1. In order to update and embellish the parrot's swing, you will not need large beads and a bell.

beads

In my case, the swing took 50 bright beads. You need to detach the metal case from the wooden surface and string multi-colored beads onto it.

string the beads

tie a bell

So that while riding on a swing, the parrot can not only ride, but also play, do not string large beads too tightly.

parrot swings

Give the bird the opportunity to pick the beads with its beak. Then attach the wooden surface back to the arch and attach the bell.
2. Now let's start making the second toy.To create it you will need a multi-colored rope made of hard fibers or a rope with a diameter of 5 - 7 mm, a length of 40 cm and a plastic tip from any children's toy, its size should be slightly larger than the size of the cable.

little faith

Accordingly, the larger your bird, the larger the diameter of the intended rope should be in order for the parrot to comfortably grasp the rope with its claws. Don't buy rope that is made of cotton. Since this natural material, when disheveled, turns into small flakes that can get stuck in the bird’s stomach. This can lead to gastrointestinal blockage or death of your pet.
Then we thread a plastic tip into the rope and securely fasten it on both sides of the cage.

thread the rope

The parrot will not only be able to sit on this rope, but also move the plastic toy with its paws and beak in different directions.

A similar accessory is used to create a play area for birds. Believe me, your parrot will love this kind of fun made from ordinary scrap materials.
If you have the opportunity, buy some bendable rope for your bird. With its help, you can make the bird all kinds of variations of round swings, curved ladders, rectangular arches, etc.

3. In my Karelian dog’s cage, an ordinary classic mirror hung on a perch for a whole year. At first the bird looked at him often, but then quickly lost all interest in him. I decided to update her mirror, for this I needed a chain of old beads 6 cm long and a small bell.

attach the bell

Now the bird spends time with great pleasure near the mirror, tugging at the chain with the bell.

4. And finally, we’ll make an interesting toy for the bird – a pendant. To make it you will need 2 - 3 meters of woolen thread, a bell, scissors, a plastic circle (in my case it is a “burner” from a children’s stove) and details for decoration: a small ball, beads of various diameters and decorative buttons.

what do you need

We create a fluffy rope from threads and tie it in the middle.

clew

We tie a woolen thread to the rope, pull a small ball through it and tie the thread into a knot.

ropes threads

Then, in a chaotic order, we put beads and buttons on the thread.

collecting

Now we tie our workpiece to a plastic circle and attach a bell to the top.

string

Thus, the bird will have a musical toy. The bell can be replaced with another part.

attach

That's all! With the help of such easy steps and common means at hand, we were able to please our feathered pets.

I made a rattle toy from an old silver chain. I put 3 gold rings on an old chain. Lera is 8 years old.

It is better not to place mirrors in a cage. The bird may lose all interest in you, but it will be very difficult to make it tame, because... she sees another parrot in the mirror and communicates with it.

    Maria,
Everyone is so worried that the bird will lose interest, so now deprive it of everything and fixate it on a person?
The feathered one lived with me for 17 years and died in my arms, and the mirror hung and was dragged away from me. After him, 8 years later, another bird, also with a mirror, also climbed into her hair, ears and mouth, she loved it so much... don’t scare people with comments like don’t hang a mirror, otherwise the owner will get cold feet. This is all nonsense.
If you work with the bird and pay attention, then everything will be okay, but without attention, and without a mirror, it will be wild.

kristina, I agree with you, but the bird also plays with others, both with you and with the mirror, but still it will feed it and want offspring. It’s better not to hang it, but I’m for and against it. I have been birding for 2 years... Katya is 14 years old)

Thanks for the instructions, but my parrots ignored all the toys that I made myself, but the toys bought in the store were a big hit))) the last time we found a cool toy with a mustache - with strings, a bunch of bells and whistles, and you can even hide food inside. The Wavys have been having fun with her for a week now)))

Cockatiels cannot use a mirror, such thread cannot be used either, it’s dangerous
