Snakes for decorating a room and table for the New Year

The Year of the Snake is already upon us. I would like to have themed decorations in my house. Of course, you can take ready-made shiny garlands and “depict” snakes from them. How about a little imagination?

1. Banana snake for the children's table

We will need: strong thread (No. 10, folded in half), a large needle, several bananas cut into pieces, and something to decorate the finished product.

We string banana pieces onto a thread. After each, you can insert a berry (canned cherry) or simply make a knot.

The head of the snake will be either the tip of a banana, or something into which you can insert a “sting,” which can easily be made from a toothpick broken in half. Eyes are painted on the snake's head using food coloring.

The snake can be entwined with “rain” or glitter, the slices can be painted in different colors with food coloring, or stripes can be drawn. The snake's tail is made from a piece of shiny ribbon.

2. Braided snake for wall or table decoration

We take two strips of paper or foil of different colors, the same length and width, place them at right angles and glue them together.

We begin to bend them relative to each other.

The result is a braided flexible snake.

We make the head from half a nutshell wrapped in silver paper, and the tail from something bright. The snake can decorate both the wall and the table.

3. Bake snakes

Knead a stiff, yeast-free dough and roll it out into snake shapes. The eyes can be made from dried berries, black pepper, pieces of candy, and the sting can be made from pine needles.

Place the snakes in the oven to bake. Then we decorate it with a pattern or wrap it with rain.

It is either placed on the edge of the plate or inserted into a glass prepared for each guest.
