You can’t buy one like this in a store: Do-it-yourself BusyBoard

Hello. The godson turned 1 year old. I decided to make one for him present - business board. Busy board is a toy for developing fine motor skills in children. As toys you can use: locks, latches, strings, various buttons, bells, sockets, switches and so on. The more different types of objects, the more interesting it is for a child to play with and study them. Playing with small parts develops fine motor skills of a child's hands well.

It took

To make it I needed:
  • Furniture board.
  • Old rotary telephone.
  • Graphite coated paper.
  • Various buttons.
  • Latches/hooks.
  • Door handles.
  • A piece of belt.

Making busy boards

First of all, I took a piece of furniture board, sanded it and coated it with linseed oil. Choose the size of the shield at your discretion. I took 100*40cm.

There is nothing difficult about assembling this toy. Pre-place the parts on the board and imagine where each part will be located. When you choose the best option, take a photo of it so you don’t get confused later. Remove everything from the board and start assembling.
I took apart my old phone. From him I needed: a rotary dialer, a cord from a handset, calls from a telephone.

Screwed it to the board. To make it more interesting for your child, you can paste a photo of your favorite cartoon character onto the set.
I bought 3 different doorbells and installed them the same way. A lot of self-tapping screws were used.

Almost all the elements were purchased at a hardware and sports store.
I ordered graphite coated vinyl film on Aliexpress. You can draw on it with crayons. It can be glued to any surface.

I made folding doors. You can hide behind them, for example, photographs of mom and dad.

You can also make fastenings on the back of the board so that you can hang it on the wall.
If desired, you can decorate the board with various stickers.
This is the kind of busy board I got. I inserted a little cotton into the bicycle horn to muffle the sound.
