pantsuit for barbie doll

Girls love to dress up their dolls! But dolls are most often sold without additional outfits. And if there are also dresses attached to it, then such dolls are much more expensive. Therefore, if you have a sewing machine, patience and a desire to bring joy to your daughter, then you can sew such an outfit yourself. You will spend two hours on this activity, or even less. For work, prepare pieces of fabric. It is advisable that they are not loose. You will also need a measuring tape, white paper, chalk and scissors.

How to sew trousers

Measure the doll's hips. This doll has a girth of 11 cm.

We add one cm to all seams and another centimeter so that the jacket fits freely on the doll. Divide by 4. My measurements: 3.2 cm.
You don't have to measure your waist. The doll has a “wasp” look, so we’ll just make darts on the trousers. Decide on the length of the product.
Take a piece of fabric, fold it in half vertically, and secure it with needles. Draw the top line. Measure down 6 cm from it (seat height + hem), and then another 11 cm. Draw horizontal lines from these points. On the top line, measure 3.2 cm. On the middle line, set aside the same amount and add another 1.5-2 cm. On the bottom line, set aside 4 cm. This is the width of the trousers at the bottom. Connect all the dots as shown in the photo.

If you want to make the trousers narrower, then cut the fabric by 0.5 cm on the right.
Cut the workpiece along the contour.

Stitch them up. Sew a zigzag stitch on the top and bottom of the garment. Also process those edges where the parts will be attached to each other. Iron.

Start sewing the halves of the trousers, go over the seam, sew another two centimeters and make a tack.
Fold the top of the product 1 cm.

Sew on the Velcro. One is on the front side, and the other is on the back.

How to sew a jacket.
Measure the chest size of the doll. For my doll it was 13 cm. The width of the chest is 8 cm. And the width of the back is 5 cm.

measuring barbie

First we will make a pattern for the back. On a sheet of paper, put 10 cm down: the length of the product + 5 mm for the seam. At the top and bottom, mark horizontally 4 cm: half the width of the back + 5 mm for the seam and one cm for tucks. Make a rectangle. At the top, set aside 1 cm from the left edge for the neckline and 1.5 cm for the shoulder (already with a seam allowance). From the right edge on the horizontal line, measure 2.5 cm (armhole). Connect the lines as shown in the photo. Don’t make the armhole very deep, it’s better not to reach the right edge a little and lower the line down from there.

Cut out the pattern, place it on fabric folded in half and pinned together with safety pins, and trace. Cut it out.

Without removing the pins, place the cut out back on the fabric and trace again.

Now we will make a shelf. Increase the width of the outline where the middle of the front will be as in the photo.

You did this so that there would be a smell on the clasp. Raise the neckline slightly upward (for a lapel). Uncover these two parts. Make sure they don't end up on one side.
Sew both front panels to the back along the shoulders. Sew a zigzag stitch across the shoulder seams, neckline and front front.

Now let's make the sleeves. Draw a rectangle with sides 6x7 cm on a piece of paper or directly on fabric. Place 1 cm down on both sides. Draw an arc upward. This is the head of the sleeve. On the bottom line, measure 1.5 cm on both sides. Connect the side lines. Cut out the pattern.

Try the doll on. Decide where to make tucks on the back and front. Make 4 tucks on the back, and one deep tuck on the shelves. Iron them. Also use an iron to make a lapel for the jacket.

Slightly trim the bottom of the jacket. To do this, make it a little shorter on the back side. Use a zigzag stitch twice.
Sew small Velcro strips on the waist panels: one on the right side of the fabric, and the second on the back. Sew a button on the front side of the product, thereby closing the seam from sewing on Velcro.
